Frequently Asked questions

What is the Creative Bank and what is its purpose?

Q.

A.

The Creative Bank is designed to provide writers the opportunity to get their written work seen by TV and Film Producers who are actively looking for films and programs to produce.

Your titles are held inside an account in a similar fashion to how money is held in a Financial institution. Your IP stays yours and can be withdrawn at any time. It is stored safely until a Producer examines it for consideration. All parties involved sign release and NDA forms.

We know how hard it is to get work read by the right people without proper representation or direct connections. The Creative Bank is designed to change that.  We allow an open-door policy to submit any project that you feel is ready to be shared. If you have a great story, feel free to submit.

Please note that by submitting to the Creative Bank, there is no guarantee your work will be examined. if your project fits what we or our partners are looking for, your odds are much greater that it will be reviewed. The Creative Bank will strive to provide its members with market insight to help you achieve your goals.

What happens when I submit?

Q.

A.

By submitting to the Creative Bank, your project will be held inside our system in your own account and examined if there is an interest from a producer.

Submitting does not give us the right to go ahead and use your idea. The intention is to find talented people with interesting projects. If your project is selected then you will be contacted by our development team to discuss the next steps.

Do I need to sign anything?

Q.

A.

Yes, you will need to sign a release form. Production companies normally do not accept unsolicited submission due to legal limitations. You will need to sign a document releasing MiLa Media and its partners from any liability in the case other projects share similar characteristics to yours. If you have a completed screenplay or story, we recommend registering it with the U.S Copyright Office.

At what stage may I submit a project to the Creative Bank?

Q.

A.

You can submit projects to us at any stage, as long as you own the rights. We recommend however, that your project is in written form, and not just an idea. Ideas alone are not copyrightable. (You may refer to our copyright question for more info on that topic)

I submitted my project. What happens next?

Q.

A.

You will be contacted if there is interest. we recommend that you leave your content in the bank if you don't hear from us, as the market's needs are constantly changing.

Due to high demand, please refrain from reaching out to us directly to ask about the status of your project. Please remember, we are offering this as a free service and there is no guarantee your script will be read. As such, there is no timetable as to when, or if your project will be examined.

Can I submit more than one project?

Q.

Yes please! Submit as many as your heart desires.

A.

I live in a different country. Does MiLa Media only work with United States-based filmmakers?

Q.

A.

Of course not! As long as your content is in English, we'd love to review it. (For completed feature films, the content does not necessarily have to be in English as long as there are English subtitles.)

What happens if my script gets picked up?

Q.

A.

The fun begins! We will contact you and sign a production and/or development deal. We may negotiate some script changes in order to move forward with production.

By submitting, is my script guaranteed to be reviewed?

Q.

A.

By submitting to the Creative Bank, we cannot guarantee that your project will be reviewed. Many projects will in fact, not be examined. However, if your work meets certain criteria that our partners are looking for the chances will increase that your script will be examined.

As a general rule, the longer you leave the project in the Creative Bank, the better your chances are that it will get examined at some point.

What criteria will increase my scripts chances of being reviewed?

Q.

A.

That criteria changes on a regular basis depending on the fluidity of the film market. Both ourselves and our partners will search for the content that is relevant to us at that time.  If your script meets that criteria it will then be reviewed for further consideration.

How many projects are being considered for Production?

Q.

A.

MiLa Media and its partners from around the globe are actively looking for projects to meet the demands of the rapidly growing market. As such, the numbers are endless as to how many projects might end up being produced or optioned from the Creative Bank.

I have partial funding and I am already working with a production company, will MiLa Media consider co- productions?

Q.

A.

MiLa Media actively pursues co-production opportunities. Generally speaking, the more equity or name talent that’s already attached, the better the chances are that the project will gain interest.

Is there potential for my project to be developed into a series or serial?

Q.

A.

Yes! Mila Media and its partners work with networks and streaming platforms, and if we feel that your script is suitable for a series (or a limited series), we will consider developing it as such. In addition, If you feel that your script can work as a series, please bring it to our attention!

How else can you be involved with our activities?

Q.

A.

We want to be in touch! Follow our website and sign up for updates. We are working on a lot of exciting projects and would be happy to work together!

How can I tell what the budget level of my script is?

Q.

A.

One of the ways films are categorized is by budget level. MiLa Dark, for example, will only consider projects that can be produced for $200k or under. However, as the screenwriter who may not have the ability to create a budget, how can you tell?

The budget of a film is affected by many factors. Some of them are locations (does your project require a complex set to be built, like a spaceship, or can it be filmed on location? Is it all happening in one or two locations or are there multiple locations which will require the film crew to spend time moving from one place to another?), number of main characters and visual or special effects (cars falling off a cliff, guns firing or budges collapsing...). At the script level, this is not an exact science. We recommend watching a few micro-budget films and finding commonalities. Additionally, you may check out our blog where we give writers tips on how to write or adapt your screenplay to the micro-budget level.

I want to take my project off the site. How do I delete my content?

Q.

A.

If you no longer want to make your script available on the Creative Bank, you may delete it at any time. Simply follow the instructions on your account dashboard.

I want to update my script with a new version. How can I do that?

Q.

A.

You may delete your old script and add a new project. Simply follow the instructions on your account dashboard.

By Submitting to the Creative Bank can I still submit my project elsewhere?

Q.

A.

Absolutely! In fact, we encourage you not to put all your eggs into one basket. You should absolutely shop your project around to as many places as you possibly can.  You never know what a producer is looking for at any given time.

The struggle is indeed real, but your hard work will pay off. Whether we can use your project or not, we believe in you and we believe in your unique voice in the world! So, hang in there. There are many valleys to cross before you can stand on the peak.

What does it cost to submit a project to the Creative Bank?

Q.

A.

Zilch. We want to help writers by offering this free of charge.
